The TCAA, as a 501c 6 Trade Association, has the ability to engage in political advocacy on behalf of trauma centers and systems. The Advocacy Committee, led by Ron Anderson, MD, CEO of Parkland Health & Hospital Systems in Dallas, is comprised of Government Relations professionals from our nation's leading trauma centers along with trauma center leaders.
The Committee has put together a lobbyist agenda and is working with a nationally recognized lobbying firm on these activities.
Current initiatives supported by the TCAA Advocacy Committee are:
- Implement UB-92 Trauma Revenue Codes
- Support Improved Reimbursement for Trauma Care
- Promote Federal Support for Trauma Care Solutions
- Monitor trauma system economic status across the nation on a state and regional basis
- Educate the general public and policymakers on the definition of trauma care and the services trauma centers provide
- Enhance the role that trauma centers play at times of mass casualties due to terrorism
- Connect trauma centers with congressional representatives to build a national trauma care political support network
